The Scientific Exploration Society took a team to Mongolia in July 2013 with the aim of riding on horseback into a remote mountainous area near the Mongolia/Russia border to aid a little visited group, known as the Reindeer people. Along the way the team was to distribute books to needy village schools and give out reading glasses.
Col John Blashford-Snell sent a report of the Scientific Exploration Society’s expedition to Mongolia in July 2013 to Ken Stahly, saying
“We had a grand expedition in Mongolia and a splendid Burns Supper. I also gave our Ambassador in Ulaanbaatar, Chris Stuart, a couple of tins of your [Stahly] haggis for him to serve when Alex Salmond visits him in a few weeks time. I trust Mr Salmond likes haggis!”
